For many centuries Poland has been the country where the cultures of the East collide with those of the West. Here epic battles
have determined the future directions of the world. Since 2000 another kind of meeting of cultures has taken place in Poland. At the annual meeting of the Polish Baptist Medical Fellowship God continues to reveal that He has great plans for His people. He desires to use medical/ dental ministries in sharing the Gospel in this part of the world!
The Polish Baptist Medical Fellowship began as an offshoot of ministry being done in Poland through a partnership between the Polish Baptist Union and the Kentucky Baptist Convention. While on a mission project through this partnership; Allen Winchester, MD had the opportunity to met Gustav Cieslar, the Rector of the Baptist Seminary in Warsaw. After hearing of all that God was doing in Cuba with Baptist health professionals, a conference was planned by the two of them.

In September of 2000 a team of BMDF members joined Polish Baptist healthcare professionals for this meeting which convened at the Baptist Seminary in Warsaw. Following the conference steps God led the group to take steps in organizing the Baptist Medical Fellowship of Poland.
The BMDF/ Poland partnership has concentrated on efforts to minister through annual meetings and through joint medical/ dental projects in Poland and in Ukraine. Christian healthcare professionals in Poland and Ukraine are very interested in Christian medical ethics and the role that Christian values play in practice.

God is at work in mighty ways in Poland and Ukraine. BMDF has an open door to being involved with Him in the work there. Opportunities for prayer and involvement are:
Participation in teaching conferences and leading Bible studies at meetings of the Polish Baptist Medical Fellowship
Polish Baptist Medical Fellowship collaboration with BMDF in adding formal International Partnerships in Eastern Europe. There is a particular interest in starting a formal International Partnership with Baptist healthcare professionals in Ukraine.
Members who feel called to be part of a “Friends of Poland/ Ukraine” network to provide ongoing support for healthcare ministry there
Collaboration of BMDF with other organizations doing ministry in Poland and in Ukraine.
Funding for participation of Polish Baptist Medical Fellowship leaders in BMDF national meetings
