Baptist Medical Dental Fellowship - An Overview
Started as the dream of a few over 35 years ago, the Fellowship now has members all over the world. They are physicians, dentists, nurses, other health professionals, and a variety of non-health professionals who have an interest in healthcare missions! Most members are Baptists from the U.S., however BMDF has a growing number of international and non-Baptist members.
BMDF is organized primarily for active involvement in healthcare missions in North American and around the world. Other major emphases are Christian professional fellowship, personal spiritual growth, and the support of healthcare missionaries.
The fellowship is intentional in its mission focus. We provide Continuing Medical Education opportunities for Baptist long-term missionaries, grant scholarship to medical/dental students and health sciences students going on short-term mission projects, and work with Baptist Unions in other countries in forming their own Baptist Health Fellowships. A primary task for BMDF is endorsement, recruitment, and enlistment of volunteers in projects and clinics overseas and in North America. Each year, BMDF members are involved in short-term medical projects in 50+ countries.
