This was my second trip to Brazil back to the same villages, people, and especially children that grabbed my heart on my very first medical missions trip three years ago. It was amazing to come back to serve a people who have grown in my heart and for whom I have prayed for over the last few years.
This trip was especially exciting because I was coming as an entering third year medical student, with two years of training in microbiology, pathology, pharmacology, and clinical medicine that helped me to understand the ailments for which people came to be treated. I was a “doctor” for the first time (with much supervision, of course!)...
